 Why You Should Join!

 

Affidavit Services - With four staff members registered as Commissioner of Oaths, we offer, free affidavit services to our members.

BIM Cafe - The BIM Cafe is a six station digital construction training centre located at the LDCA.  The training centre offers specific courses regarding Building Information Modeling for the beginner and intermediate user, targeting general contractors, sub contractors, design builders and consultants.

Construction Learning Institute (CLI) - The CLI offers a wide range of Educational and Health & Safety courses and seminars industry specific for Members at a nominal cost.  New to CLI is the BIM Cafe (Building Information Modeling) for training.

Contract Documents - Complete supply of CCDC & CCA documents as well as other industry related materials at a discounted price.

Electronic Plan Room - This optional service is a fast and efficient way to view plans, specifications, addendums and order prints from anywhere you have internet service.  Automatic notification features.

Gold Seal Program - This National certification program for the construction industry provinces recognition that an individual has attainted a nationally recognized level of experience and competence as a Project Manager, Superintendent, Estimator or Owner's Project managers.

Group Insurance Plan - As an LDCA member you are eligible for group insurance coverage through our broker.

Labour Relations Services - Both Non-Unionized and Unionized contractors use these services as required.  No cost is involved to Members.  If you have problems in regards to Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, or even in the Human Rights field, advice and perhaps solutions are a phone call away.

Library - Many publications including Daily Commercial News, a complete array of safety material, handbooks and specifications, volumes etc., are available for your use.

Lunch & Learn - Free lunch & learn sessions throughout the year on various industry related topics.

Meeting Facilities - Hold your staff or client meetings in our well equipped Boardroom or Classroom, available on a reservation basis at reasonable rates.

Membership Directory/Buyer's Guide & LDCA Magazine - The LDCA publishes a yearly Membership Directory/Buyer's Guide which contains our membership listing along with a trade's directory.  We also produce an annual magazine highlighting various aspects of the industry throughout the area.  Both publications are distributed to all LDCA members, Architects, Engineers and Municipalities in Southwestern Ontario.

Municipal Representation - Our standing Liasion Committee with the City of London is active in presenting problems and reaching solutions with city officials.

National Representation & Lobbying -You become a member of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) receiving direct information on federal affairs affecting you and your business.

Provincial Representation & Lobbying - A portion of your LDCA membership supports the Council of Ontario Construction Association (COCA) which is quickly becoming the most influential employer representative in the province.  In the process, this organizing is saving our members thousands of dollars annually.

Social Events - A great opportunity for networking, the LDCA hosts various events throughout the year including; Curling Bonspiel, London Knights Hockey Box, Ski Day and Spring Golf Tournament.

Young Construction Executives Club (YCEC) - The YCEC is a informal communication network amongst young future executives under 40 years of age who promote network relationships, establish industry contacts and leads, provide information on industry activities and opportunities and develop leadership skills.

Weekly Newsletter/Daily Planslist - The planslist is sent to members updating them on projects out for tender, in prequalification stage and low bids and project awards.  The website is also updated daily with the same information.  The "Pulse" newsletter includes the planslist and also features interesting industry articles and the happenings within the Association.  Keep up to date on those matters affecting your business.

Eligibility Requirements
  1. If upon publishing of the membership application there is receipt of four (4) or more letters of objection from member companies to the application, the applicant shall be denied membership in the LDCA with the express proviso that a second application would be entertained by the Board after one year.
  2. The applicant has the right of appeal to the Board of Directors if they are rejected.
  3. If the principals of an applicant company were the principal(s) of a previous bankrupt member company, the applicant company shall make good any receivables left owing to the LDCA by the bankrupt company.
  4. Applicants for membership in the LDCA shall use the approved application form for membership as approved by the Board of Directors.
  5. Acceptance or rejection of a membership application is at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors.
