Update from Infrastructure Ontario
2010-04-20
Making Projects Happen -  from Infrastructure Ontario

Since 2005, the provincial government has invested billions of dollars in infrastructure across Ontario.  This has generated hundreds of thousands of jobs and helped blunt the impact of the worldwide economic slowdown.  At IO, we're proud to helped the government meet its infrastructure priorities.  To date, we'be brought more than $15 billion in capital constructions to market, and dozens of projects are either completed or under construction.

But that's far from the end of the story.  Recently, the Ontario government announced its budget for the coming fiscal year.  The important message is that the government remains committed to infrastrucutre investment.  Because of the economic reality and the province's current fiscal position, some investments are being staged more gradually.  However, the government has committed to introducing a new, 10-year infrastructure investment plan in 2011.  This is good news for us all.

Also of note is Toronto's successful bid for the Pan/Parapan American Games.  Infrastructure Ontario is playing a key role in the delivery of several projects, including the Athlete's Village.  These projects - scattered throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area - are transformational in nature, and will benefit the people of Ontario for many years to come.

You will find an updated status chart for IO's projects slated to come to RFQ.  As before, details regarding each RFQ will be posted to Merx in the coming weeks and months, and though these are our best estimates, the dates indicated for each project are subject to change.
